Industrial Engineering Senior Earns Scholarship from National Honor Society
Senior Fayha Khan received a 2020-21 Alpha Pi Mu Scholarship from Alpha Pi Mu, the Industrial Engineering Honor Society. Fayha is the outgoing president of the Rutgers Chapter of Alpha Pi Mu where she made it her mission to revive the honor society and create a platform that supports and promotes the ISE Community.

Over 40 years, she helped transform a fledgling department into one of the nation’s best
Industrial and Systems Engineering professor Susan Albin retired this January, after helping to grow what was at the time a newly formed department into one with engineering education and research programs in quality and reliability, manufacturing, artificial intelligence, financial management, and more that rank among the best in the nation.

Two teams of ISE doctoral students were awarded second and third places respectively in the inaugural Data Analytics Competition held by the Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers (IISE) Data Analytics and Information Systems Division.
The competing teams were tasked with applying data analytics and machine learning methods to vehicle crash data in order to improve road safety.

During the spring semester of junior year and fall semester of senior year, four-person teams of ISE majors apply all they have learned to solve real-world problems – whether developing a bio-degradable anti-bacterial fabric or an intelligent tutoring system – in capstone Senior Design projects.
