Industrial and systems engineering Professor Susan Albin was named among the class of 2020 Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences (INFORMS) Fellows. INFORMS is dedicated to promoting best practices and advances in operations research, management science, and analytics. As the field's largest professional association, INFORMS and its members work to improve operational and decision-making processes, and outcomes.

Amazon’s Staten Island robotic fulfillment center, opened in September 2018, is an 855,000-square-foot warehouse manned by more than 2,000 full-time employees and hundreds of 350-pound robots. A group of ISE students toured the facility to gain a deeper understanding of the industrial and systems engineering discipline, particularly warehouse layout, warehouse operations, and material handling.

Researcher and author of A Survey of Fractal Dimensions of Networks, Eric Rosenberg has studied networks since he joined Bell Labs after earning his doctoral degree at Stanford. “The field of network science has recently attracted enormous interest, by considering such topics as social networks, brain networks and the security of our national infrastructure,” he said.
