Student Experience
Industrial and systems engineering students are part of a connected community with faculty and researchers.
Real World Experience
The Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering at Rutgers works as a partner to industry and corporations often providing cutting-edge research in production and manufacturing, energy systems and quality and reliability engineering. Students gain experience as researchers alongside faculty and through internships and sponsored capstone research work. ISE’s laboratories provide industry-standard equipment for students to develop skills necessary to excel in industrial and systems engineering professions.
Research Opportunities
Many industrial and systems engineering undergraduate students work as research assistants in department labs. Speak to individual faculty members about opportunities.
Other research opportunities include the School of Engineering's J.J. Slade Scholars Program, Aresty Research Center, and Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation.
Student Organizations
ISE offers many student organizations to make connections and have fun.
- Alpha Pi Mu - the Industrial Engineering Honor Society
- Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences (INFORMS)
- Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers (IISE)
- Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME)
- Tau Beta Pi - the National Engineering Honor Society
